Hashtag activism is a popular tool to raise awareness for important social issues. However, using it as the only action to take towards change is as negligible as it is harmful to movements.

Healthy friendships are crucial now more than ever. But the rise in social discourse, cancel culture, and hyper individualism jeopardize both new and established communities.

Internet trends such as the “Smash or Pass” challenge come and go, but reemerge in different forms. The most popular of these, the “Pop the Balloon” challenge, poses a risk to the mental health of the contestants and the image of the black community.

People have differing characteristics based on their upbringing. But I’ve noticed that Black women have common traits that are central to the Black experience.

Black vernacular evolves constantly, often stemming from and spreading throughout social media. Though certain words such as ‘situationship’ are more harmful to the community than enriching.

The Black community has overcome many hardships, though we continue to struggle with taking accountability.

In every music genre, there is more undiscovered, raw talent than what the mainstream media promotes.
